Our team of archaeologists and heritage specialists have over 20 years experience in providing archaeological and heritage advice. We have earned a reputation for providing quality advice to clients throughout Australia.
The company currently employs ten full-time archaeologists specialising in research, Historical Archaeology, Aboriginal Archaeology, Heritage Management and Conservation Planning. Our fields of expertise include: Aboriginal & Historical Archaeology, Geomorphology, Historical Research, Conservation Planning, Artefact Analysis, Heritage Management, Excavation, Built Heritage, Archival Recording, Expert Evidence and GIS.
AHMS has the capability to provide a full range of heritage services in-house including both Aboriginal and Historical Archaeology, built and landscape heritage. We regularly work with large multi-disciplinary teams as the lead heritage consultant.
Most of our work has involved provision of heritage advice to project management teams operating within development contexts with tight deadlines. AHMS have undertaken a range of assessments for planning studies and development applications in addition to extensive experience undertaking test and salvage archaeological excavations. We have a thorough understanding of the heritage legislative framework and the policies and requirements of State and Federal heritage consent authorities regarding management of cultural heritage.
A critical element of our success has been establishing excellent working relationships with stakeholder groups and Aboriginal communities. This ensures potential heritage issues are identified upfront and management approaches can be implemented to minimise delays or disruptions to development schedules.
We have also gained an industry-wide reputation for developing innovative management solutions to complex archaeological issues by working closely with design teams, planners and engineers. This has enabled us to explore design options that avoid or mitigate impact on significant archaeological heritage and to prepare detailed impact modelling. This approach has the advantage of not only protecting heritage, but also minimises the requirements for time consuming archaeological mitigation work. Our approach leads to significant cost and time savings for our clients.
